SHEETS AND ROPES

For years general haulage goods were loaded on to waggons and lorries, sheeted up, then roped down. It was a real art to learn how to stack different loads and keep them dry and secure. About 1980 curtains replaced the sheets, and straps the ropes. So, just a few scenes to show how things were done in the bad old days!

WHEEL CHANGE (detail): Like stopping to help each other. Unheard of nowadays I guess. Painted in Lascaux, 2011, framed in Alder.
