Welcome to the new Roadscapes Gallery. Most of the paintings were commissioned over the last while, like the one above, from the Intro page of our last Roadscapes Gallery.

In Memory “The Man of Kent”

Painted in Flashe Vinyl. Framed in Rosewood. It shows an ERF, driven by a Dear Old Pal, Alan Ord, who passed away in June 2022. Seen heading up Linton Hill, in Kent, he was loaded for Barrow in Furness. He’d worked for British Railways, B.R.S. Sittingbourne, G.G.Tomkinsons, and Classic Long-Distance Haulier, Chris Mumford, of Marden, Kent.

Chris, and his brother Rod, took over the running of the company when Fred Mumford, the Father, died. Chris and Rod were the very best Employers. They treated you like a Mate. Pretty unique I’d say. Working for them back in the 60s, running to South/West Wales, the North East of England and to Scotland was the perfect job – and so lucky for me I came in at the end of an era. Two Late Greats - Chris Mumford, who very sadly passed away in December 2024, and Alan Ord, were amazing Stars from the Golden Days of Road Haulage.
