FINALLY: I loved the road - my job for 20 years, and the transport comrades who inspired me. And the Craft of picture making. I'm not into Classical Art more than that, not a Gallery Artist, no Leonardo. I don't follow trends or copy anyone. Just do my own thing. Only a jobbing painter. A bit more of a technician than some, maybe. I learnt by looking at more modern Art. Studying some amazing work, by artists like Pierre Bonnard, Harry Clarke, Fred Fowle, Midge Gourlay, Evie Hone, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Emil Nolde, Peter Rule, David Adrian Smith, Geoff Taylor, Moira Williams. It comes from the heart. Starting with the original idea and title. As for the process, Colour is first. Paul Klee said -"to paint well is to put the right colour in the right place." And I like to see melody in a picture. As for the rest - well, even if you've been around the block a few times you are still learning! It's a mix of Portaiture, Illustration and above all Decoration.
- "Decoration for life" I was told once.
